“How to be Delivered Materially”, by Rev Samuel Mametsa, Mphambo Crusade, Day Four, the 27th of March 2012.
There is a lot of people worshipping in big churches but they are not prospering. They are not living right in their lives.
When we started the crusade we talked about total deliverance: spiritual, physical and material deliverance. All these three are what we call total deliverance. Currently most people are delivered spiritually but health wise, materially they are not delivered. They are living in contradiction to the Scripture which says our God is the supplier of all things.
On Saturday we spoke about the power of the blood and on Friday we spoke about Gideon who was praising God whilst His name whilst still recorded in his father’s altar. This prevented God from blessing Gideon until God had to tell him that his father’s altar was preventing God to bless him (Gideon).
When we speak about material deliverance we refer mainly to money. Most people are stingy and stinginess is a demon. Most people are not aware that it is a demon. The devil tells them “How can you give the church when you are poor?”
The issue of giving is not that you have something to give. The bible says when you give you feel the pain that I have lost something and when you give and loose something then you have given. Remember that when God gave His son to die for us He was feeling pain. When Abraham was going to kill his son, as instructed by God, he was feeling pain. God said “Take your only son and kill him on Mt Zion.” The bible says Abraham never asked God questions. He never said “God, you have just given me the son and now you want to take the son?” He also never went and consulted his wife. He never said anything to his son “I am going to kill you and make you the sacrifice”. He just said “Son, saddle the donkeys. Tomorrow we are going to sacrifice.” The boy asked innocently “Where is the sheep?’ Abraham answered “The God that we worship and serve will provide.”
Imagine that when Abraham arrived at the mountain God did not say anything to him and Abraham sacrificed the child, what was he going to say to the wife at home afterwards? When God speaks to people He speaks to the individual person not the group, not the family, not the husband or the wife. That is why Abraham could never say to God, “But my wife doesn’t want me to sacrifice the boy.”
There are circumstances when God speaks to you and it doesn’t concern your partner. When God speaks to you, your partner is not there. When you give to God but grumble, that thing belongs to you and not to God and God doesn’t take it.
In 2 Corinthians 9:7 God says I love a cheerful giver. If you are going to give God whilst grumbling it’s better you don’t give as God loves a cheerful giver. When you give in church you are not giving the pastor, you are giving to God.
The people who don’t come to church are tithing a lot of money at the taverns. After weekends you find that many have no cent to take home. This means that he or she has tithed all his or her money to the devil but they see the church as a place which takes money from the people and they don’t see that the tavern is taking more money from them. One guy was boasting that every Friday, he spends R2,000.00 at the tavern. In other words he is saying he is tithing R2,000.00 to the devil every Friday. People love taverns too much.
Psalms 14:1
“The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.” Ps 14:1, NKJV.
Once you are called a fool, it is really bad; it means you are really foolish. A fool is one who has never accepted Jesus Christ his or her Lord and Saviour. It means if one has never received Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Saviour then he or she is saying there is no God.
Material Deliverance: Scripture reading: 2 Kings 4: 8-17
“8 Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. 9 And she said to her husband, "Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. 10 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there." 11 And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there.
12 Then he said to Gehazi his servant, "Call this Shunammite woman." When he had called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said to him, "Say now to her, 'Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?'" She answered, "I dwell among my own people." 14 So he said, "What then is to be done for her?" And Gehazi answered, "Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old." 15 So he said, "Call her." When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 16 Then he said, "About this time next year you shall embrace a son." And she said, "No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!" 17 But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.” 2 Kings 4:8-17, NKJV.
This woman from Shunem believed in God. My worry is that she was barren. They were rich people. They were a respected family in that area. The bible tells us that there was a man in Shunem who would go and visit the king regularly. He would pass by her gate to go and see the king. One day when that woman was cleaning, she was feeling in her heart that I have and child. She knew in her heart that she was barren. She was busy praying and Elisha and Gehazi were passing by. It had become a daily routine for her.
The God of heaven touched the woman and said to her “That man who is passing by is carrying your baby. Look after him, He is my servant. He is carrying a lot of babies. Make it a point that you take care of him. That woman did not understand the power of God.” She was struggling “Is this the true God?” First day she let him pass. She was still struggling, how will I approach this matter, how will I approach this man?
She got to the point that she no longer had any peace and one night she said to her husband “There is something in my heart, there is man who is passing by here all the time. Why can’t we invite him to come for dinner?” I guess her husband became furious at this suggestion. He was a man and here was his wife saying they must invite another man into their house. A lot of man would have become furious also. This man did not say such a thing to his wife because the woman was led by the power of God. I don’t know what kind of effect that man of God had on the woman. When he would greet her he was affecting her, touching her and reminding her of what God had said to her “This man is carrying a lot of babies and one of them is yours.”
I guess that woman prayed first before she confronted the husband. She then said “Why don’t we invite that man to come and have supper first?” I think she prayed first be speaking to the husband. Then the husband had no problem “It is fine, invite him.” Then on another day she went back to the husband again “Why can’t we build this man a house on top of our house’?” Now the man would have said to her “You see now you are going too far.” She must have prayed for this first as the man did not have a problem “Let’s build the room for them as you say.” and they build Elisha and Gehazi an upper room.
If you want a man of God to prophesy for you or on your behalf, you must do something for that man of God. In Verse 14 we read “14 So he said, "What then is to be done for her?"” 2 Kings 4:14, NKJV. It is when Elisha saw the heart of this family. How they took care of him. He had no money to give them. If he had money he would have rented the room but because he did not have the money he sat with Gehazi and said we must do something to encourage the family because God spoke to the family to take care of us and they listened to Him.
He then said o Gehazi, “Call the woman”. When she came he said “Woman of God what can we do for you? Can we talk to the chief or the king for you?” She said “No. I am on good terms with them”. Elisha spoke to Gehazi “What then must we do for her?” Then Gehazi says “The problem with this woman is that she is barren. This is the heart of her problem.” Elisha laughed. “Ah-h, she doesn’t have a child. There is a lot of children in heaven. The God that I serve can provide a child for her.”
In 2 Kings 4:16 the bible says “16 Then he said, "About this time next year you shall embrace a son." And she said, "No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!"” NKJV. He said you will be embracing he did not say you will be pregnant, and he said a son not a daughter. When the woman listened to this, it sounded like a joke to her but to Elisha it was not a joke. He can’t open his mouth for fun as he is serving the living God.
If you want God to bless you, you must bless others. The bible says that indeed the same time next year she was embracing a son.
You need to take of your pastor and when you have done this, he will prophesy but he can’t prophesy for you now because he is hungry.
If u want blessings, start to bless your pastor. Your pastor is your Elisha. He is carrying your blessings. He is carrying your children but if he is hungry he doesn’t have time to prophesy. He is too busy worried about his children and his family. If you want your pastor to prophesy make sure he eats, make sure he has time to pray for you and your family. He must not waste his time on worry.
If you want to chase Christians from church, talk about money. They will leave the church very fast. That is why I don’t like to talk about money. I don’t want people to run away from church.
I remember some time ago around 2003/4 another lady wanted me to come to minister at her wedding and at that time I didn’t even own suit. I went to the wedding wearing a denim and a torn t-shirt. When it was time for the blessing she told the program director to call the pastor to come and preach and I stood up with my denim and the torn t-shirt and started to minister. Her brother said to the program director “Call the worship team to sing a song we want to arrange something with the pastor.” He said to me “You should have worn a suit” and I told him “Where am I supposed to get a suit? Your sister did not buy me any suit and I don’t have a suit, was I supposed to steal the suit?” It sounded like a joke. “My blessings are the blessings coming from the Lord and the suit doesn’t bring blessings to her.” I continued with the wedding. Afterwards, her friends went to her and said: “Was that your pastor?” she wanted to convince them “No, I hired him.” but somebody said “We know him; you were a worshipper in his church. It means you were not taking care of your pastor.”
The Shunamite woman knew that if I take care of the man of God he will bless me and I will have a child. When she was inviting the man of God she did not know that this man will bless her with a child. When a pastor arrives in your home and you don’t take care of him, you curse your house.
Your pastor is your temptation. If you can’t take care of your pastor it means that even if Jesus Christ came back today you can’t take of Him. I imagine the Shunamite woman said to her friends “I didn’t know that this man is carrying my baby.” When the pastor is passing you by, know that he is carrying your monies; your promotion, your good results in school, your marriage etc don’t ignore him.
When we talk about money, we are talking about something that will make a man of God to start to prophesy. I remember when Apostle Peter and John entered into the temple and there was a cripple whose job was to ask for money from people. My worry is that that man never entered into the temple. Even the people who carried him every day would just put him outside and never put him in the church. Their intention was not that he must get healed but that he must collect the money. That is why even in church when people have disabled people at home they will never bring them to church to get prayed for as the don’t want them to be healed as they will never be able to collect the health grant on behalf of that person. Every day they want to count money for themselves.
I remember when Peter took the tin for the money and shook it and he expected the coins to make noise but he heard nothing. Peter said, silver and gold we do not have, but if we had it, we would give it to you “In the name of Jesus, stand up!”
He stood up but inside his heart he was saying “What am I going to eat today?” When the people who brought him there came back they found his spot empty, they went inside and found him dancing and they cried “Ah! our money is gone!” Those people came into the church but they did not repent. They went home furious; I think that when the healed man arrived home they cursed and shouted at him.
I remember one lady who said to me: “I will come with my husband to be prayed for”. When she went home the aunty said to her “No ways! Do you want the grant to be withdrawn when he is healed? What are we going to eat? Don’t be stupid.” They told her, “Go and take your brother so that he can be prayed for.”This was in 2006 and today we are in 2012 and that man is still crippled. Many don’t want to come to deliverance services because they fear they will lose money.
David knew that if you want to be blessed give to somebody else.
Proverbs 11:24 “4 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.” Prov 11:24, NKJV.
This verse talks about a person who gives and keeps on giving, and still feels he has not given enough even after he has given a lot. This person is classified as a rich person in the bible. He gives in such a way that he is left with nothing but when he wakes up the following day he has a lot and he stills gives it away. He is not stingy, he gives a lot. When that person becomes very rich people will talk and complain “This person want to become close to the pastor by giving the pastor a lot of things.” The ‘backseaters’ in church are just there to correct and criticize people. They do nothing but complain. Even if the pastor can pray for them after a 40 days and 40 night dry fast nothing will happen to them, they are cursed by God. The demon of stinginess is a very serious curse on humanity: If you can’t give to others what belongs to them then you are cursed.
There was this one lady; I think it was around 2007. When she would get paid her salary it would be divided into two halves i.e when she went to the bank she would only find half her salary in her account. When she complained to the employer they said we deposited the full salary and would show her the pay slip but when it reflected in her account it would only be half of the salary amount. By the time she contacted me it had been four years. Her husband thought she was secretly taking the money to her family. She came and showed me the pay slip showing the full salary having been paid and we went to the bank and when she checked the balance it was only half of the salary. She did not know where else to go and complain. She went inside the bank and records showed that she was the one who was withdrawing the money.
When she came to me I told her, “You must be baptised first as the person who is cursed is you, you don’t even pay tithe.” I told her “You are stingy; this thing can’t happen to a Christian.” She responded “I am Christian; I am leading children’s ministry in church.” I asked her “Do you tithe?” She looked down and I could see that she was not tithing. I told her “There is no prayer for stingy people; even if I speak in tongues that prayer cannot heal the demon of stinginess.” I told her “Take all the money that you receive for your salary and give it to God for two months.” It was not a joke. I told her “After I baptise you, give your full half of that salary to God and be a cheerful giver. After you give to God go and borrow money for food and then you will settle it on the third monthk.”
She did exactly what I said, she even went to the ban and borrowed money knowing that she would not afford to pay the bank and took all the borrowed money to church. Two months passed, third, fourth, fifth and on the sixth month the bank wrote her a letter stating “We are sorry our machine was stealing your money for six years. We are prepared to give you back your money with interest.”
The lady got triple amount and she even paid her loan cash. This is the only healing of demonic stinginess. Don’t come and say pastor “Things are not going well for me as I will ask you about your tithe record” My prayers will not heal you as God will not respond to the prayer as He is he one who puts the curse.
Mal 3:8-9
“8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.” Mal 3:8-9, NKJV.
The bible says are you not afraid to rob God in daylight and you even ask “How did we rob God?” God is saying you are robbing me every day? Do you know how you are robbing God? Many people say “I did not receive my salary”, or they say “I have a very serious problem in my family this month I cannot pay my tithe.” You are robbing God. God doesn’t want your salary. God only wants 10% of your salary. When most people talk about salary, they talk about take home salary (nett). He wants the 10% of your gross as this allows God to protect your financial status.
Some people would rather pay their burial society fees rather than pay their tithe. On the day of the society meeting they don’t go to church. Will these burial societies take care of your life? People are serious in preparing for their funerals rather than their lives. They will choose nice coffins and funeral homes but when it comes to the tithe, they are silent.
We don’t know what standard God will use in heaven. What if He uses the tithes? God wants the people who are not stingy in life.
I remember one lady who was a nurse in our church. In 2000 she was given her pension it was about R500,000.00 and she took the whole amount to church. Before she arrived home she called her children and said “From today I am on pension but I don’t have money.” Her children were furious, “What do you mean?” “I took my money to church, I don’t have money. I don’t have money in my account I transferred all the money into the church account.” One of her sons said “I am going to the pastor now” and he went to the pastor “Pastor please give my mother back her money.” The old man was in trouble. He said “I have no problem to give the money back but first go and call your mom. It is not right for me to give back what somebody gave to God cheerfully, she did not give it to me or the church but God.” The boy went and called the mother and she came along with him.
The old lady said to the pastor “Pastor this is my money, I gave this money to God. This boy must go and work for his own money. This boy must not come and give you trouble again otherwise I will call the police to arrest him.” The boy continued to fight the pastor and the mom called the police and they arrested him. The following day he phoned the mom “I am sorry, please tell the police to release me; I will not cause trouble anymore.” She phoned them and they released him.
The old lady then went to the grant office to apply for pension as she qualified for the money. After 3 months passed she was paid R3, 500.00. She was surprised as it was way too much money that what the other pensioners were receiving. She went and complained and they said it will be corrected the next month but next month she got R5000.00 and still they said “We will correct it” but next month it was R5000 again and when she went to the office they told her “This is your money, don’t come and complain again”. She earned that money from 2000 to 2010. Try and add up that money, it adds up to R660, 000.00. In other words subtract the R500, 000.00 she gave to God and you get R160, 000.00. Her money earned her interest of R160, 000.00 What can you say about this God?
This is part of deliverance.
The problem is that when people give they expect something. You don’t give whilst expecting something.
When people are on the way to church they first go to the nearby shop / spaza shop / tuck shop to get small change to give to God. During the time of the Israelites they would bring the old lean, sick and dying, animals. After these animals were given they would bring curse to them. If you give God less than best. He knows that there is something better, that thing comes back to you as a curse.
Cain killed Abel because he wanted to sacrifice something that is less than best and his brother Abel wanted to give the fattest.
In church, when we have to give offerings, you will see people separating the monies so that they can take the smaller denomination of their money and give to God. Some pretend as if they are going to the car so they can separate the monies privately. If you give God little, you are saying to God, I deserve to receive little.
The bible never says tithe is for certain people. Even students must learn to tithe even when they are still at school. You must grow with that culture. This helps because when you finish school God will provide a job for you. Many are struggling to get a job because when they were still at school they were very stingy. Why should God bless a stingy person? You will seat at home with your certificates not working.
The bible says invest your money where no moth can reach it. This can only be with God and when you go for job interviews God will make sure that they choose you as He wants you to receive more money. The bible says blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives.
This is a serious curse from God, God says Mal 3:8-9 “8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.” NKJV.
In other words if you rob God, you will be cursed by God and nobody can pray for you. God says Mal 3:9 “Even this whole nation.” NKJV Let’s teach our children to grow up with this culture.
We need to renounce this spirit. If you never take care of your pastor then you know that you are stingy. Ask yourself what have I done for the man of God? Am I honest with my tithe or am I one of those who rob God?
When we started the crusade we talked about total deliverance: spiritual, physical and material deliverance. All these three are what we call total deliverance. Currently most people are delivered spiritually but health wise, materially they are not delivered. They are living in contradiction to the Scripture which says our God is the supplier of all things.
