“What does God consider before He blesses you?” by Pastor Ramuhuyu, Sunday Service, the 28th of October 2012.
Mr Ramuhuyu preaching.
Scripture reading: Genesis12:1-3 “Now the Lord had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."” NKJV.
“Leave” means to get out and go somewhere, it is a word that can be told to somebody to take action. God visited Abraham and told him to leave his country and his people. When I check the scripture I think God was saying to Abraham, “I know that you are living in this land but leave your country and your people.”
Maybe God might be talking to you just like He did to Abraham. God might be telling you to leave your country and your people. Maybe the environment that you’re staying in is not suitable for your blessing; maybe the people that are surrounding you are the ones blocking your blessings. God wants you to leave the place you are sitting in, God wants you to leave your tradition and go to a place He want you to be because that is where He will bless you.
God told Abraham to leave his country and his father`s possessions and go to a Promised Land and God promised him that if he went to the Promised Land, God would bless him and make him father of the nations.
When God blesses you it means that whatsoever you touch will be well and all your wishes will come true. God promised Abraham that He will make his name great and he will be known all over. When your name is great it means you will be recognised all over. If you leave your father`s land and your country you will be a blessing and people will come to you because your life will be a blessing. Jesus Christ was a blessing to all of us that is why even today when we communicate with God we communicate through him. God is saying that if you leave the land that you are living in and go to the Promised Land God will bless you; if you bless the man of God, God will also bless you, the bible further says that I will bless those who bless you and curse all those who curse you.
This promise was given to Abraham when he was told to leave his people, his country, and his father`s house
The qualities that God considers when He wants to bless you:
1 A Pure heart.
1 Sam 16:12 “12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!"” NKJV.
God wants to bless you but He needs a pure heart. A person who had a pure heart was David the son of Jesse. God wanted a person who would replace King Saul but when He looked around He found that there was David. He was the only man who had a pure heart.
You may be young in your family like David, you may be young in terms of your pocket, you maybe young in years but maybe God wants to bless you today. When God blesses He doesn’t care about your possession. He doesn’t care whether you are rich or poor but He considers a pure heart. The question is do you have that pure heart? Can God bless you when He looks at your heart?
2. Upright in the side of God.
Luke 1:5-6 “There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”
NKJV.
Zachariah was a priest but without children but when God looked at him He found that he qualified to be blessed because he was upright and he was blameless before God. When you are blessed it means that everything that you touch is also blessed. God blessed Zachariah with a son called John. The very same John the Baptist.
3. Be blameless and walk before God
Gen17:1 “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him,"I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” NKJV.
Abraham was blessed when he was ninety nine years old. John the Baptist was blessed before he was born so age is not a limit to your blessings. When God blesses you He does not consider age. God is talking to someone here, have you thrown the towel in? Maybe at this stage you have already given up, maybe people are laughing at you, maybe you are old but don’t give up because even if they don’t listen to you there is someone who listens to you and He is looking for your pure heart.
Are you sure that what you are today God wants you to be like that? If God says “Yes” who can say “No!” God works with an appointed times. Do not rush, be blameless and walk before God, God will bless you and if God says “Yes!” We can’t say “No!”
God is saying to you today that what you have today is not enough, what you are going through is not final about your life, don’t give up because God is about to release your blessings. God says that what you have today is not what God wants you to have; there are things that are hidden in the darkness and He is about to release them. If God says “Yes” with your life, who can say “No!” It is not about the age or your physical appearance but the important thing is who is inside you.
David was anointed and that is the reason he faced Goliath; when he fought Goliath he didn’t do it on his own but he went with the name, the name of Jesus; the name that is above all things. The bible says that those who are with us are greater than those who are fighting against us. If God is with you who can be against you?
Think of giants like Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, they were arrested by the king for not worshiping his gods but they stood on the name of Jesus and when they were thrown into the fire nothing happened because they were having a God who blesses by fire. Who are you walking with in your life?
