“What can one do to inherit the eternal life?” by Mr Ramuhuyu, Wednesday Service, the 7th of March 2012.
Luke 10:25-36 “5 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" 26 He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?" 27 So he answered and said,"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'" 28 And He said to him, "You have answered rightly; do this and you will live." 29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" 30 Then Jesus answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.' 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" NKJV.
In this text the bible tells us that the laywer wanted to test Jesus and asked Him "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered and said You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'.
This text also tells us about the man who was attacked in the middle of nowhere and left for dead. A priest came along. We know the job and functions of the priest. We do not know why the priest did not stop to help this man in pain, in need of help and bleeding. The priest wants to inherit eternal life but he did not stop to save the life of the wounded man.
The next person who came along was a Levite, of the seed of Aaron, the priest. He also passes.
Another man came along, a Samaritan; he stopped on the road, and took care of the wounded man. He put that man on his donkey, and on top of that he took the man to an inn keeper to make sure the man was taken care of and that the man’s care was paid for. He gave them the money for the care.
“What can one do to inherit the eternal life?”
Matthew 7:21
Matt 7:21 “21 "Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” NKJV.
Today, there are so many churches all over the world and they are performing a lot of miracles. The question is who is the source of those miracles? We are not supposed to judge the churches or each other? We must also not praise ourselves. The bible says some will say “Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'” Matt 7:22, NKJV. The bible says further “23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matt 7:23, NKJV.
God will check us on the things we did not do, not on what we think He will use to judge us.
Matthew 25: 31-36
"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' Matt 25:31-36, NKJV.
This text shows us who will enter heaven. You can meet somebody who is hungry and you have a lot of food but do not give him the food. Is it right to do this?
Matt 25:45
“45 Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'” Mathew 25:45, NKJV.
God concentrates on the little things. He wants us to concentrate on sharpening ourselves on these little things of loving each other.
Hebrews 13:1-2
“1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” Heb 13:1-2, NKJV.
Of the three men who did not help the wounded men, which one are you? With all the work you do in your service to God, which one are you? I doubt you come to church so that people can see you, or to get a good position or to get a marriage spouse who is born again.
When we ask for things from God, He is faithful and He gives us but the problem with us is that after He gives us the things are we still going to love Him, worship Him? The main issue is that we must inherit the eternal life and to do this, we must love our neighbour as we love ourselves. As from today, we must go and practice loving our neighbour as we love ourselves. We must practice what the word says we must do all these in order to inherit the eternal life.
When Jesus Christ comes the second time, He is going to separate the people. There will be two groups, sheep and goats. Which group do you fall under? I doubt that you came here so you can be classified as a goat.
“Prayer Points” by Pastor Progress Nengome.
1. Seeking God with all our hearts
Psalm 139: 3, 24
“3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.” Ps 139:3, NKJV.
Ps 139:24
“24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” Ps 139:24, NKJV.
Ask God to search us and to expose anything is us that can make God not to answer our prayers.
2. Works of the Flesh
Galatians 5: 19-21
“9 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Gal 5:19-21, NKJV.
We must flee from evil. All these things are caused by spirits and those that are succumbing to these spirits will end up sinning against the Lord. We must resist this evil. Ask God to give you the grace to resist sin and to flee form it in Jesus’ name.
3. Church Events
Let’s pray for all the church events and activities that we have planned and that are still forthcoming. Matthew 6: 10
“10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” Matt 6:10, NKJV. Let’s invite God to be a part of all this events and activities. Let your will in respect of all these events which is in heaven be done on earth.
4. The servant of God
Let’s pray for the servant of God.
Isa 40:29-31
“9 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isa 40:29-31, NKJV.
Let this scripture come to pass in the life of our spiritual father, renew his strength, give him strength and let your grace be upon His life in Jesus’ name.
Acts 11:24
“24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.” Acts 11:24, NKJV.
Increase your annointing upon the man of God; give him the grace for increased faith in Jesus’ name.
Dan 5:12,
”2 Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation." Dan 5:12, NKJV.
God let this spirit that was on Daniel be upon the man of God in Jesus’ name.
5. All night prayer 9th of March 2012
Let’s pray for the all-night prayer. God give us the grace, the strength and the energy to endure during the night prayer.
6. Building Project
Jeremiah 29:11
“11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jer 29:11, NKJV.
What God has purposed to come to pass in respect of the building let it come to pass, oh God, in Jesus’ name.
7. Praying for Unity
Galatians 5:15
“15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!” Gal 5:15, NKJV.
We pray for the grace to love one another and to be united and to know that the enemy is not made of flesh and blood. Let’s not hate each other or fight amongst ourselves but fight the devil.
8. Salvation
How do we as Christians, go to church and leave our neighbours behind? Take the challenge and go and speak to the people, be it your family, friend or neighbour. Do not make your when conclusions and say “I know so and so, he won’t agree.”
Matthew 28:19
“19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Matt 28:19, NKJV.
9. Servant hood
In every church there is a lot of work that needs to be done. People are needed to take up the various positions and to serve in the house of the Lord.
God, give us the grace to serve You in the house of the Lord.
10. Leaders
Jeremiah 1:10
“10 See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant."” Jer 1:10, NKJV.
In Jesus’ name we root out, pull down, destroy and to throw down, evvth in their place which is not of God and plant the will of God there.
11. Praying for Prosperity
2 Chronicles 20:20
“20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." 2 Chron 20:20, NKJV.
Give us the grace to be obedient to the prophets and to honour them oh God, so that we do not miss our prosperity in Jesus’ name.
12. Our Youths
Father God, we come against the spirit of pride in the youths in Jesus’ name.
13. Deliverance Time
It is important that people in the church pray and intercede for the deliverance session and not be spectators of what is happening. Those who are doing the praise and the worship let them do so with their full hearts. Give us the grace to move as one during the deliverance sessions in Jesus’ name.
14. Helpers of the Church, in our lives
Let’s pray for all the helpers of this church and the people that God has predestined to be our helpers, for God to keep them, prosper them, preserve them.
15 Thanksgiving
The bible says we must give thanks to God in everything. We thank you Jesus for answering our prayers and for your grace upon our lives, in Jesus’ name.
