“To be an Ambassador”, by Mrs Patricia Mavhandu, Wednesday, the 01st of February 2012.
Scripture Reading: Esther 4:13-17 “13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: "Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king's palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" 15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: 16 "Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!" 17 So Mordecai went his way and did according to all that Esther commanded him.” NKJV.
You must free yourself from the past before you can become an ambassador. Esther was raised by Mordecai, her parents had passed away. Mordecai raised her until she had become of age for marriage. Her suffering as an orphan gave her a background that contributed to her becoming a good wife. We can say that as a child she did long for the love of a mother.
Many may say that Esther was not fitting to be the wife of a king. The same might be said of you, that having regard to your background, you are not worthy of the position or something that God has placed in your life. Before God, all is worthy and it is as it should be.
When Esther was chosen she was adorned with spices, etc Esther was a beautiful woman but after all the processes at the palace to prepare her to be queen, she was more beautiful.
Things started to go wrong when Mordecai refused to worship Haman and then there was a plot to ensure that Mordecai and all the Jews should be killed. We must never despair as we know our God is always with us and for us.
Esther had seven maids attending her needs with her special beauty treatments. Jesus Christ allowed His blood to be shed so that His precious blood could redeem us. It is said of many after they receive Christ that their countenance has changed for the better.
By becoming a queen Esther delivered the whole land, she suggested that the tax in the land be reduced and it was reduced.
As ambassadors of Christ we can stand in the gap and speak, pray on behalf of others. At some point Esther forgot that God had made her a queen not only for her benefit but also for the benefit of the nation. It was Mordecai who spoke to her and brought her back to her senses, that if she doesn’t stand up, the Jews may all be killed. We must never forget who we are in Christ and the responsibilities that God has placed upon us in respect of other brethren. Some of us even forget that we have spiritual fathers, because of the comforts of this world, just like Esther forgot where she came from because of the comforts in the palace.
Est 4:16, NKJV. “16 "Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!"
You can say the same about the situation that is facing you; if I perish, I perish!" Don’t be moved by the situation or circumstance before you. Esther understood that in order for the situation to change a fast was necessary. We can offer our bodies as living sacrifices. If you discipline your body, it will tell you, ‘I am tired, I am hungry, I am thirsty.’ This is a sign that we have forgotten who we are in Christ and in respect of our brethren. We must continually ask God, What can I do to ensure that things world is delivered?
God’s ears are not deaf that He cannot hear us. God says He knew us whilst we were still in our mother’s womb. Nobody will come and stand up for you so that you can then do something, you must stand up and take your position.
Through the intervention of the Holy Spirit, after the fasting the by Jews, the situation was resolved. The Holy Spirit touched the heart of the king so that Esther had favour in his eyes and he said to her “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!" Est 5:6 NKJV.
Esther asked the king to invite Haman to the banquet. The devil forsook Haman, and the secret that Haman was behind the planned execution of the Jews came out. Sometimes people set traps with a specific person in mind but at the end of the day, the trap then destroys its owner. Sometimes we set traps with our mouths, sometimes with our hands. We must refuse to do this.
At the end of the day, Haman was the one who was hanged and his house was given to Esther.
Again through the intervention of God, Mordecai was recognised by the king. Let us not betray our Lord, who loved us and died for us. We have to stand up, be ambassadors to the Lord. His kingdom is the only one that will stand for all eternity.
The same happened to Joseph, he went through a lot and then at the end of the day, God used Joseph to deliver a whole nation. Can God use you to deliver a whole nation, for the benefit of the whole nation?
