“People Forget that they are Representing the Kingdom of God” by Mrs Johana Mukhavhuli, Wednesday Service, the 9th May 2012.
Mrs Johana Mukhavhuli preaching the word of God!
Luke 17: 20-21 “20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say,'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."” Luke 17:20-21, NKJV.
The Pharisees were asking Jesus as to when the kingdom of God was coming? When is the kingdom of God coming? I believe it had been long they were reading the word of God and awaiting the coming of the kingdom of God until they could no longer stand it and asked Him.
When He answered them He said "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say,'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you." This kingdom is within us. Jesus Christ told the Pharisees that the Kingdom of God is within you. He told them that you can’t see this kingdom through your eyes. The kingdom is within you. You can’t see it with your naked eyes. It is within you.
When Jesus said He knew that as people who are living in this world, there are people who are carrying the kingdom of God but these people tend to forget that they are carrying the kingdom of God. We see this by the way they conduct themselves that they have forgotten that they are carrying the kingdom of God. You see people acting contrary to what the word of God says and what it instructs us. People forget that what is within them is precious; it is like a treasure which when found must be kept. If we have this kingdom we are rich. When we have this kingdom we are happy, we are healthy etc but people tend to forget that they are carrying the kingdom of God and they go and sin whilst carrying the kingdom of God. You forget all the power, the treasure and the riches of God that you are carrying. People let us not forget what we are carrying.
Matthew 13:44-46 “44 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price 45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,” Matt 13:44-45, NKJV.
The bible says the kingdom of heaven is like a hidden treasure which cannot be found but it says that once a person can find it, he or she will go and sell everything he or she has to go and buy it. This means that this person will sell all things like pride, stealing, hatred etc so that he or she can find this treasure. The kingdom of God is like a treasure which is worth selling all that you have. When you get the benefits of the kingdom of heaven you will receive the benefits of the kingdom of God. You sell pride, stealing etc because now you understand that with pride or stealing the kingdom of God cannot dwell within me.
The kingdom of God is not something you get everywhere. You might be seating here and there is somebody who wishes they were like you, who has already found the kingdom of God, these riches etc because this person is struggling with the ancestral worship altar of their families etc. This person loves to come to church to God etc but these things are holding him or her back, pulling him or her back. But you are here and are blessed because the kingdom of God is within you. You are blessed because this kingdom of God is already within you.
The bible says hold onto what you have because if you don’t take care of the kingdom of God, you may lose it and it may never come back. The bible says that those who were born again and become backslidden have great difficulty in coming back to the kingdom of God. Wherever you are sitting tell yourself that I am carrying precious treasure. This treasure is very scarce. You get it through grace.
Let’s not forget that we are carrying the treasure of God. Don’t frustrate yourself doing things you are not supposed to do, saying things you are not supposed to. The kingdom of God is like a treasure. A treasure is something that you get and will not want to lose, it may be something you get once in a lifetime. If you lose this kingdom it will take time to get it back.
I remember when we were still growing; bread was a serious treasure. We would only eat bread during Christmas. It was a serious treasure. We had to count all our pennies before we could buy bread. That is why I am saying treasure this treasure well. It is difficult for a born again who backslides to come back into the kingdom of God.
If you have this gift, this treasure, take good care of it. It is within you and it is up to you to protect this kingdom. Do you care about this kingdom? The kingdom of God is within you. Wherever you go, handle the kingdom of God with care. Whatever you do you know that the kingdom of God is within you. Even when you sin, you know that I am carrying the kingdom of God but still you proceed with the sin.
Some people are crying to become Christians but you already have it, it is because they are unable make it. It is not because you and I are clever or worthy. So let’s treasure this, knowing that if I lose this it will be difficult to get it back.
When bad things come your way know in your heart I am not supposed to partake of it, because I will lose the kingdom and if I can lose the kingdom I will never get it back.
In whatsoever you do or the sins you commit don’t forget that you are carrying the kingdom of God.
“Prayer Points” by Mr Mboneni Rathiyaya.
Mr Mboneni Rathiyaya leading the prayer points.
01. Repenting of our Sins
Let’s go before God and repent of all our sins before we can go before the throne of God to ask Him for anything. This helps to get rid of any obstacles that may be within the way of our relationship with God.
02. The Grace to be Humble
The topic of today is “People Forget that they are representing the Kingdom of God”. It shows that we become so proud that we forget that we are carrying the kingdom of God.
Prayer Point: Let’s ask God for the grace to be humble so that the kingdom of God will prevail in and through our lives in Jesus’ name.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chron 7:14, NKJV.
Humility is our theme of the year for this church. How can you pray if you can’t humble yourself? Pride is killing the world as nobody wants to listen to another person. To be able to humble ourselves we must be able to hear His voice.
Exodus 15:26 “26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you."” Ex 15:26, NKJV.
This means that we have to listen diligently to His voice. We are coming to church every time but still we do not listen or hear God when He speaks.
If we follow what the word says in Exodus 15:26 it says He will not bring any of the Egyptian sicknesses and diseases upon us. People are not getting healed because we do not hear God nor do we listen to Him and so the sicknesses and diseases of the Egyptians come on us.
Prayer Point: Let’s ask God for the grace to hear His voice and to be able to obey it in Jesus’ name.
03. Praying for Our Children
Yes, we are praying but we are not praying enough for our children. There are things that children do which people consider to be normal which are not scriptural e.g. stubbornness, bitter anger etc But when these spirit become stronger they make our lives a living hell. We must pray for our children.
Prayer Point: God build the same hedge that you have built around Job. Our children are attending schools with demonic people. God help our children. We ask for your divine intervention in Jesus’ name. Preserve their lives in Jesus’ name.
When the enemy wants to attack you and He knows that you are strong in faith he will attack your children. We don’t want this. They must not have a spirit of disrespect, spirit of anger etc.
04. The Spirit to forgive
We are always praying but we still struggle with forgiveness. Jesus Christ taught the disciples this prayer because they had asked Him to teach them to pray.
Mathew 6:9-12 “9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.” Matt 6:9-12, NKJV.
Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. The question is, are you able to forgive? Yes, you say it, but when you do it, do you really mean it from the bottom of your heart? If not it means you have not forgiven. We must not only forgive but we must also forget.
Col 3:1-3 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Col 3:1-3, NKJV.
Prayer Point: Let’s ask God for the grace to forgive and to forgive people when they hurt, anger or wrong us.
If you don’t forgive or you don’t forget, it hampers your prayers, you are then not able to stand before God and pray.
05. Praying for those who were baptised on Saturday the 6th May 2012
Remember that as soon as Jesus Christ finished with His fasting, He was tempted. The same will happen to those who were baptised.
Prayer Point: Let’s pray for those people so that God will help them and strengthen them. Give them the grace to endure under all trial and temptations in Jesus’ name. To run their races according to the word of God.
06. The need to love each other
The messages we received during the all night prayer was that we should love each other. We must pray and ask God to give us the spirit of love, the real love.
Leviticus 19:18 “18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.” Lev 19:18, NKJV.
Matthew 5:43 “43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'” Matt 5:43, NKJV.
The word of God here emphasizes love for one another.
07. Praying for the servant of God and His family
Eph 6:19 “19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,” Eph 6:19, NKJV.
The servants of God need our prayers so that they can grow. You and I are just their pillars. Let’s pray for our spiritual father.
08. Praying for families
If God says do something just go and do it and don’t ask questions. Paul says husbands love your wives, and wives submit to the authority or your husbands.
Prayer Point: God strengthen our marriages and families. It doesn’t help us to come here and lift our hands when our families are in tatters.
09. Spiritual husbands and wives that are breaking families
Some of the families are breaking down because of the evil spirits. If you don’t listen to the word of God you will do what the enemy will tell you. Many of the families are being broken by the spirit husbands and wives. Let’s come against this in Jesus’ name.
10. Leaders and those in Authority
Paul says to Timothy when you pray you must pray for your leaders and those in authority over you.
1 Tim 2:1-2 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV.
We find leaders in our workplace. It is not all of them that are born again; it is our duty to pray for them so that the will of God may prevail in our workplaces. It is not our job to gossip, ours is to pray for them and for the situations prevailing at work.
11. Leaders and those in Authority
Hag 1:2-5 “2 "Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: 'This people says, "The time has not come, the time that the Lord's house should be built."'" 3 Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 "Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?" 5 Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts:"Consider your ways!” Hag 1:2-5, NKJV.
Prayer Point: Let’s ask God for the grace to give for the building of the church. God raise men and women amongst us who will build the house of God. It is not a difficult job. This is not the house of the pastor but the house of God.
12. Thanksgiving
Let’s thank God for hearing our prayers in Jesus’ name.
Let’s go before God and repent of all our sins before we can go before the throne of God to ask Him for anything. This helps to get rid of any obstacles that may be within the way of our relationship with God.
