“What is Impossible with Men is Possible with God” Part 4 by Rev Samuel Mametsa, Friday Evening, the 27th April 2012.
People are delivered when they listen to the word of God. Since Monday a lot of people have been delivered including those who were taking medication and depending on- that medication for their health.
The theme of this Crusade is “With men it is impossible but with God nothing is impossible”.
Joshua 1:2-9 “2 "Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them — the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."” Josh 1:1-9, NKJV.
Josh 1:18 “18 Whoever rebels against your command and does not heed your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death. Only be strong and of good courage."” Josh 1:18, NKJV.
Joshua 5:2-7“2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, "Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time." 3 So Joshua made flint knives for himself, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. 4 And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: All the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt. 5 For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised. 6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord — to whom the Lord swore that He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us,"a land flowing with milk and honey." 7 Then Joshua circumcised their sons whom He raised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way.” Josh 5:2-7, NKJV.
Josh 5:10
“10 Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.” Josh 5:10, NKJV.
Joshua 10:12-16
“12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon." 13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. 14 And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel. 15 Then Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal. The Amorite Kings Executed 16 But these five kings had fled and hidden themselves in a cave at Makkedah.” Josh 10:12-16, NKJV.
This is after the martyred man of God rested. Moses was informed that He would not enter Canaan. The Israelites were about to enter Canaan.
I want to speak about the man Joshua, who replaced Moses and was ordained by God Himself. In Joshua 1 we read the instructions from God to Joshua. The words “be strong” is stated four times in this text. This tells me that God meant business for his life and that and God said to Joshua don’t allow the Book of the Lord to come out of your mouth. This means that God wanted to walk with Him, that is why He told Him to be strong and He said don’t turn to the left or right but be straight.
The bible says “I will never leave you nor forsake you if you allow my word to stay in your mouth. I will protect you, if the door is closed, it will open, whatever you desire it will happen as long as My word is in your mouth.”
Josh 1:3 “3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” Josh 1:3, NKJV.
This promise is from God Himself. If you keep my word wherever you go it shall come to pass. What does this mean? With God it is possible. If you think you can’t do it, why don’t you allow the book of law to stay in your mouth so that God can always be with you.
The bible says Joshua “Take my Law seriously. You must now take my children and cross Jordan, with your faith and understanding, take them across the Jordan River. I give you responsibility, take my children.” Pastor Sanna, God says, ‘Take this people and cross Jordan, so that they can enter the Promised Land.’
The bible says some of the people had died on the way from Egypt and now, listen to me God says to Joshua “Don’t continue with the journey, camp in Gilgal until I give you authority and the power will come.” He never did what God did not say. Others, when God says “Wait in Gilgal” they jump.
He was eager to go. The Israelites were eager to go but God said “Wait in Gilgal.” Why? Listen to what the bible says: in Joshua 5 it says
“Prepare a sharp knife and circumcise them.” I don’t know why God wanted them to be circumcised.
But God said something before this: a lot of people died in the dessert. This means “Let them wait in Gilgal, they must be healed.” Pastor Sanna, let them wait in Gilgal, so that they can be healed. They can’t cross over if they are sick. They must be healed so that they can cross over. In other words if they are not circumcised, they cannot fight.
The uncircumcised cannot take orders as they don’t know respect. According to Jewish Law you need to be circumcised so that you can know respect and they believe circumcision makes you strong so that you can fight.
Don’t undermine circumcision. Those who have been to the mountain know respect. The bible said “Circumcise all of them. There is a fight ahead of them after they cross the Jordan River; there are the Jebusites, and the other enemies waiting for them. So they need to be circumcised so that they can defeat all their enemies.” and when they passed the Jordan River they were strong and tough. When God circumcised them, they never refused. God said “Circumcise them all”. Joshua did not question God. He did not say “Why?” He just did what he was told.
Just think: how do you think he approached them? The bible says they had walked the dessert 40 years, day and night. Imagine even the small boys who came out of Egypt, how old were they by then? He was circumcising man older than 60 years, because of the order of God. They were not allowed to be circumcised in Egypt. That is why some died along the way without having being circumcised.
They passed the Jordan River and entered the Promised Land, he continued to defeat the enemies, Amorites, Jebusites etc and he proceeded further because he had a strong army.
When they were busy fighting the time was running out but Joshua because of his faithfulness realised, I am ordained by God but time is not on my side. He followed God’s instructions, he never turned left nor right. Every day he meditated on the word. That is why when the war was on, and the expected time passed by, he started to realise “there is power in me”. He ordered the heavens “You sun, stop where you are, I have not yet accomplished my work. Stop there!” What a faith!
I can just see him standing there, pointing the right finger unto the sun, “Sun stop right there, don’t move until I finish the war.” and he turned around and said the same to the moon “Moon stop right there, don’t move until I finish the war.”
If you have God by your side and if you keep his word you can command the sun, the moon and they will obey you. The bible says the sun stopped and the moon stopped. It was not God’s order but a command of a man, a man who decided to exercise his faith. He knew the scripture “With God everything is possible” and he followed it. Where is your faith?
The bible says “There was no other day like that all over the world.” Somebody’s faith interfered with all the plans of heaven and all the activities of heaven stopped. That is why every year in February we have 28 days because of Joshua’s faith. You will not have 30 days in February because Joshua exercised his faith.
This is because of the day that Joshua took away. He said “Sun stop”.
The sun obeyed him and stopped and said “Joshua I have heard you, when you are finished, tell me. When you finish tell me so that I can start moving again but now I cannot move until you give me the order.”
Who is giving you orders? Who gave you orders?
I am talking about powerful faith. The sun stood still.
Joshua said "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon." 13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, in front of the army. They must have thought he was crazy. What do you think was going on in their minds? I am sure somebody must have said to him “Hey Joshua are you crazy, who do you think you are, who can stop the sun?”
If you have the vision of God people will say you are mad. If you accomplish the orders of God, people will not see according to the way your eyes see and they will say you are mad.
Let me tell you why the army was surprised. They fought for a long time and when they checked their watches they realised that their watches had stopped. “Hey my watch is not giving me correct time. What is your time?” “Same time on my watch also”. “Okay let’s continue to fight” and again after a long time they realised the time was not moving.
After keeping on checking the time, the Amorites just said “Ah, this is too much, you can just kill us and finish us. ”
Joshua won the war and then he said “Sun now you can move.” and now their watches started to tick.
Let me tell you this, if you take orders you will wait in Gilgal until you receive another order “Cross over Jordan River” and then you will receive another order.
I remember when Joshua was about to demolish the wall of Jericho, he received orders from God: “You must march around the wall.” It is when you take orders. Not your own orders. People are claiming, and if you claim, you will run around Jericho and nothing will happen.
The Book of the Law of the Lord must not depart from your mouth Joshua 1:8
The law of your God must not come and move from your mouth. What is coming from your mouth? Can it stop the sun? Can it stop the moon? The sun will not obey you if you speak something negative.
According to the bible he pointed to the sun and spoke Why? Because his mouth was full of the word. That is why he could command the sun and it stopped. That is why God said “The law must not depart from your mouth.”
If you take orders, what comes from your mouth will make a difference. Remember what comes from your mouth is powerful. He never prayed for the sun, He did not say “Sun I beg you!” He said “In the name of God stop!” The sun tested what was coming from Joshua and realised that it was coming from the law of God.
Maybe some people even destroyed or broke their watches ,thinking they were broken. Maybe some of them slept for two days. Don’t you see the damage that Joshua caused because of his faith?
Let me tell you a dangerous statement: after he commanded the sun, he never stopped to check if the sun had stopped. He said sun stop and continued fighting.
Some of the Christians when they ask something from God they stop and check their watches and say “God, where are you? You are taking too long.”
God cannot give you when something when you are expecting it, He wants you to forget first and whilst in the middle of forgetting he will release it and when it comes you will even collapse.
Many people are collapsing from their own prayers. They pray and then forget that they have prayed for something.
Somebody nearly fainted after he got a tender for R21million. He had forgotten that he had prayed and fasted for 21days.
Christians we need to be strong.
The theme of this Crusade is “With men it is impossible but with God nothing is impossible”.
