“Let Christ be your advocate so that you can inherit the kingdom of God” by Pastor V Mmbadaliga, Wednesday Service, the 13th of February 2013.
Ps V Mmbadaliga preaching the word of God.
Scripture reading: 1 John 2:1-6 “1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” NKJV.
John tells us not to sin. The bible says there is someone who is pleading for us, when we have committed sin, someone who pleads on our behalf unto God so that He may forgive us all our sins.
When you have committed a crime you need a lawyer or an advocate who can help you with your case but for the advocate to help you need to first confess, you need to tell your story to his or her. We are so fortunate as Christians because we have an advocate who doesn’t even need our money but for us to open our hearts and confess before Him.
Because Jesus is still our advocate we need to go before Him and confess all our sins before Him and we must not be late because if we are late we might die before reconciling with Him. Many people are committing sins but they don’t remember Jesus, why? It is because people obey the idols and the ancestral worship more than God. Why must we respect people who are dead? We need to respect God only and confess all our sins before Him. If you obey God `s commandments we will be very sure that we know this Christ, this God that we are serving. The Lord`s commandments are written in the book of Exodus but the problem is that people do not obey them instead they obey their idols.
There are so many people who are still worshiping the idols. To worship idols does not refer only to consulting sangomas but by just doing what pleases the idols you are worshiping them. The bible encourages us that we must obey the commandments of God but the question is, are we following the commandments?
If we say we are sons and daughters of God we need to do what he instructs us to do and by doing that it shows or proves to those who are around us that we know Him. The bible says the word of God should not depart from your mouth you need to meditate upon it every time and before we do something we need to ask ourselves if what we are doing pleases God.
People get used to sin and no longer consider it as a sin, and they do things that the Lord through ignorance. There is a spirit of competition between people even if the other partners do not know that you are competing with them. There are many people who are competing with others without those other people knowing. That is why we end committing sins. Let us obey the commandments of God and if God says avoid the spirit of lust, fornication, adultery we need to flee from them and do what pleases God.
There are so many people that are used to their sins and they don’t even feel ashamed of committing them. Let us fear God. If you fear God your conscience will refuse whenever you try to commit sin. Love God and respect God so that the Holy Spirit might enter in you and be the one that leads you and make you to avoid sin.
Many people of this world love to be praised but God told us in the bible that all our praises must go to Him and no one in this world. If you start praising yourself you become full with the spirit of boasting and this means you will never respect God thereby turning away from God. How many times have you been boasting about the worldly things and forgetting to praise God almighty?
We must obey the Lord`s commandments and do all what the Lord tells us. Many people do not want to leave or to get out of their sins; they enjoy their comfort zone. You must know God and His commandments so He may deliver you from whatever you are suffering from.
The bible refers to those who say they know Jesus but are not doing what pleases God, as liars. When we have true love we show people that we are of Christ.
The question is, are we living like Christ? Jesus was humble even when they way calling Him names. Whoever continues living a sinful life is not of God but is of the devil.
Do we tell people what the bible says? Take Jesus and let Him be the advocate of your life. When you are living like Jesus you need to do what He did and even do more. If we all live like Jesus we will avoid foolish arguments because that is against the will of God. Let us come out of the sins that we are committing and serve God and God only with all our hearts.
Rev 2:7 “7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God."'” NKJV.
Genesis 2:9 “9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” NKJV.
Rev 2:11 “11 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."'” NKJV.
Rev 3:21 “21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” NKJV.
